In plain English: Afterpass helps you organize and conditionally share your most important information. You own your data. We protect it with encryption. Passes are delivery tools, not legal documents. Always keep independent copies of critical information — Afterpass is not a backup service. Completing our Preparation Guides helps you get organized, but does not create legally binding documents. Choose your verifiers carefully.
Welcome to Afterpass. By creating an account or using the Afterpass mobile application or website (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). The Service is provided by Cloudstacker Group LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
Please read these Terms carefully. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use the Service.
Afterpass provides secure digital vault storage, guided preparation tools, and time-triggered information sharing. It is designed to help you organize, protect, and conditionally share your most important information with the people you trust.
Afterpass is not a legal, financial, medical, or estate planning service. The vault items, Preparation Guide responses, and passes you create within Afterpass are organizational tools — they do not constitute legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, or healthcare directives, unless separately prepared, executed, and certified by a qualified professional in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction. We strongly encourage you to work with appropriate legal, financial, and medical advisors for your estate planning and preparedness needs.
Afterpass is not a backup, archival, or document storage service. You should always maintain independent copies of your important documents, records, and information outside of Afterpass. We strongly recommend that Afterpass never serve as the sole repository for any critical information. If you choose to store your only copy of any document or information in Afterpass, you do so at your own risk.
Afterpass is not a guaranteed delivery service. While we make every reasonable effort to ensure that passes and notifications are delivered as intended, we cannot guarantee delivery under all circumstances. Afterpass should be considered one layer of your overall preparedness plan, not your only one.
No guarantee of continued availability. While we intend to operate the Service for the foreseeable future, we do not guarantee that Afterpass will be available indefinitely. You should not depend on Afterpass as the sole means of preserving or transmitting critical information. We will provide reasonable notice if the Service is to be discontinued, and will make reasonable efforts to allow you to export your data before any shutdown.
Afterpass includes guided walkthroughs (“Preparation Guides”) that help you organize important information across categories such as legal preparedness, digital life, family safety, financial readiness, and personal wishes. These guides are organizational tools only.
Completing a Preparation Guide does not create a legally binding document. For example, completing the “Create a Living Will” or “Power of Attorney Info” guide helps you organize your wishes and relevant details, but the resulting vault item is not a legal instrument. Legal documents require specific formalities (such as witnesses, notarization, or attorney preparation) that vary by jurisdiction and cannot be fulfilled through a mobile application.
The information produced by Preparation Guides is intended to supplement — not replace — professional legal, financial, or medical advice. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your legal, financial, and medical affairs are properly documented through appropriate professional channels.
Afterpass, its officers, and its employees are not responsible for any loss, harm, or adverse outcome resulting from a user’s reliance on vault items, Preparation Guide responses, or pass contents as substitutes for professionally prepared legal, financial, or medical documents.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an Afterpass account. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at info@afterpass.com if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and currency of the information you store in your vault and include in your passes. Afterpass cannot and does not verify whether the content of your vault items is current, correct, legally valid, or complete. It is your responsibility to keep your vault contents up to date and to ensure that any information shared through passes reflects your current wishes and circumstances.
You own your data. We do not claim any ownership rights to the content you store in your vault or share through passes. You may export or delete your data at any time. For full details on how we handle your information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Passes are the core of Afterpass. A pass is a collection of vault items that you designate to be shared with specific recipients under conditions you define. There are two types:
Short-term passes are designed for travel and temporary access scenarios. You set a return date when creating the pass. If you do not deactivate the pass by the return date (by tapping “I’m Back Safe”), the pass will automatically unlock and your designated recipients will gain access to the included vault items.
You are responsible for managing your return date. If you forget to deactivate a short-term pass, it will unlock as designed. Afterpass is not liable for access granted through a pass that you did not deactivate.
Permanent passes are designed for life’s major contingencies (such as death or incapacitation). They require multi-party verification to unlock. Here’s how the process works:
The 24-hour cooling period is a safety mechanism but is not a guarantee against unauthorized access. Afterpass relies on the honesty and judgment of the verifiers you choose.
Afterpass is a delivery mechanism. We facilitate the conditional sharing of information based on the rules you set. However, we cannot guarantee delivery if recipients do not have valid Afterpass accounts, if recipient or verifier email addresses are invalid or inaccessible, if verifiers do not respond to verification requests, or if technical issues beyond our control prevent notifications from being delivered.
Verifiers are trusted contacts you invite to participate in the verification process for permanent passes. By accepting a verifier invitation, a verifier agrees to the following:
You are responsible for choosing verifiers you trust. Afterpass is not liable for the accuracy of a verifier’s attestation or for any consequences resulting from a verifier’s confirmation or denial of a trigger event.
Recipients of passes and shared vault items may receive information that was created, organized, or maintained by another user. Any person who receives information through Afterpass does so at their own risk. Afterpass does not verify, validate, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, legality, or current status of any information stored in a vault or delivered through a pass.
Recipients should independently verify any critical information received through Afterpass before acting on it, particularly information of a legal, financial, or medical nature. Afterpass is not liable for any loss, harm, or adverse outcome resulting from a recipient’s reliance on information delivered through the Service.
Afterpass offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription:
Auto-renewal: Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account (on iOS) or Google Play account (on Android) at confirmation of purchase.
How to cancel: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s Settings > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have Pro access until that period ends.
What happens when you cancel: Your plan will downgrade to Free at the end of your current billing period. All of your existing data is retained — nothing is deleted. You will lose the ability to create new passes or add vault items beyond the free tier limit. Existing shared vaults and active passes will continue to function. However, if you have active passes that depend on Pro features (such as multi-party verification), those features may be limited after downgrade. You are responsible for understanding the implications of cancellation on your active passes and shared vaults.
Refunds: Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Since subscriptions are processed through Apple or Google, refund policies of the respective platform may apply. Contact us at info@afterpass.com for assistance.
You agree not to use Afterpass to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.
All data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected by TLS/HTTPS encryption. All data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Access to your vault data is governed by Row Level Security policies, ensuring that only authenticated sessions associated with your account can access your information.
While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. When you delete your Afterpass account (available in Settings within the app), all of your data — including vault items, passes, Preparation Guide responses, trusted people, and activity history — is permanently removed from our servers. This data cannot be recovered once deletion is complete.
Before deleting your account, we strongly recommend that you export any data you wish to retain and ensure that any active passes or shared vaults are addressed. Once your account is deleted, any pending passes will be cancelled and recipients will lose access to any previously shared information.
Afterpass is not responsible for any loss of data, missed deliveries, or adverse outcomes resulting from account deletion, whether intentional or accidental.
While we implement commercially reasonable security measures and infrastructure to protect your data, no digital service can guarantee absolute data preservation. Data may be lost due to technical failures, software errors, infrastructure outages, security breaches, user error (including accidental deletion), or other circumstances beyond our control.
You are solely responsible for maintaining backup copies of any critical information stored in Afterpass. We recommend regularly exporting your vault data and keeping independent copies of all important documents, records, passwords, and other information stored in the Service.
Items deleted by you (whether individual vault items, passes, or your entire account) are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Afterpass does not maintain a “trash” or recovery mechanism for deleted items. All deletions should be considered final.
